Matt: I don't think it's true that if God has reasons to command that we do something, it follows that prior to his command, we have reasons to do that thing. For those two reasons, it seems to me that they can come apart. So there is a genuine distinction there between even having really compelling reasons that are welfare-based to do something and moral obligations. John: We could go back and forth on this for another five hours and still not be done.
