The Importance of Correlational Data for Hypothesis Generation
There's a guy named Gideon Lack in the UK and he did this very like what you would see like classic correlation experiment. He concluded that kids in Israel are less likely to have peanut allergies because they eat peanuts when they're four months old. But then he did a randomized trial and it turns out that exposing your kids to peanuts actually lowers the risk of developing an allergy by 70%. So it turns out he was totally right. And but it is an it's an example of how we can use observational data good for hypothesis generation, but not enough.
