The Human Rights Abuses in the Golden Triangle
The Golden Triangle Special Economic Zone was established in 2007. There's reportedly been thousands of victims from more than 20 countries trafficked into the zone. Victims have been subjected to long working hours for weeks on end with few days of rest, somehow experienced beatings, electrocutions and torture. They're being imprisoned in buildings and compounds, sometimes being handcuffed to beds or other structures; there's been reports of murders and of suicides occurring. The Lough government actually awarded Xiao Wei a medal of bravery for his contributions to national defence and public security.
