The Financial Crisis Is a Real Problem
Five quarters of recession. I think that is the length of time the financial crisis took. It's just their not forcasting it to be as deep as that was, yes, at the same period, but not as deep in a way. The whole of europe is feeling that pinch. There are some countries in europe which are heavily dependent on russian gas - particularly germany and italy. Those countries are really facing a huge crisis. And wen here we're talking about rolling blackouts, shutting down manufacturing companies and fallen export as a result of that. That's going to have a contractionry force on gdp.
