Haskala is a movement among well educated, german speaking jews in germany. It argues that you can be jewish and also fully participate in the wider world. Haskala was led by these sort of new german jewish intellectuals. While wissen shaft des udentums says everything starts with schaftes untum; we have an intellectual life just like any other nation. This is where you get radicalised people who embrace socialism and anarcho-syndicalism. And then there's hacetic judaism which has its own kind of spiritual fervor.
