How Emotional Abuse Creates Cognitive Dissonance
When people are abused and accept that abuse rather than try to confront it or do away with it, you're going to turn into a lot of justification of things that you really don't believe in. You know, how emotional abuse creates cognitive dissonance? Well, prior to the abusive relationship, you always may have thought you were not the type of person to fall under somebody's psychological manipulation. And early attempts to leave that abuser may have resulted in blaming and threats against you for daring to leave the best partner you ever had in their mind.
