Antifungal Therapy in Sepsis Septic Shock

The patients in the control group received targeted antifungal therapy driven only by culture results. The patients in the beta D glucan group had a beta D glucose level drawn within one hour of randomization into the trial along with blood cultures any positive value which they define in the study is greater than or equal to 80 pikograms per milliliter so if it was greater than orequal to 80 80 they should start antifungals. If the blood cultures come back negative and usually take a few days then they would discontinue antifungers. In general empiric antifungAL use was discouraged in both groups so it was only started earlier in the betaD glucan
