The Führer hid in a secret underground bunker, 16 metres beneath the German chancery. The day before he married his longtime mistress, Eva Brown, and put together his will and political testament,. outlining who he wanted to take over when he died. Sometime that afternoon Adolf Hitler sat down on his sofa with his new wife, and swallowed a cyanide capsule. To make sure, he shot himself in the head. Much like the subjects of Part I and II of this miniseries, it didn't have to be this way. On 8th May 1945, the Germans surrendered. As the Red Army closed in, Hitler and Brown's bodies were quickly cremated or burned
