Movie Review - Straight Rom-Coms and Queer Cinema
I think a lot of times when there is a gay man on screen who is not stereotypically skinny and white guy hot he is depressed. Just getting to be there was pushing against the tropes of gay cinema so frequently we have this very restrictive idea of who gay people are. There's something wonderful in this movie that I am one of the few people who's getting to play a role that is sometimes played by a queer person in a straight rom-com like Rosie O'Donnell or Eve Arden.
