The Role of Retrospection in Analytical Experience
The past is transformed into our history by present speech. That is a retroactive enterprise that assigns a certain element of seriality. We haven't even gotten into Lacan's future anterior tense, the will have been part of analysis. Why would I regret what happened to me or what I did except if I don't like the person that I've become? A compassionate relationship to self in the midst of and at the end of analysis is one without regrets.
