The Origins of Horror Fiction

Sailor is pulling a lot from ST Joshi, who's like kind of the premier Lovecraft scholar really. And I think that's what he does get a lot of fictional traction out of this idea of, well what if every single time a human being encountered something they thought was a ghost or a mythological creature or a God right. He reinvented horror fiction by making it science fiction and then reintroducing horror. Sailor: The thing that ends up going missing here for me is extremely important as we start thinking about like his views on racism near the end of his life which he kind of sort of does.
