The title of the paper suggests before 1917, Marx was not mainstream. The synthetic control group method sheds no light whatsoever on that question as to whether Marx was a big deal or not as of 1916. And so what ended up happening is all these leftists, when they saw this paper, they lost their cool, about to lose their mind up in here.
