Male Prostitutes - A History of Male Prostitution

Fado of Ellis was a young boy who worked as a prostitute in Athens. He became so respected that Plato named a dialogue after him, the Fado. The boys also received the same legal protection from assault as their female counterparts. A reason for resorting to prostitutes was partially due to sexual taboo - oral sex was considered degrading by the Greeks.
