Creating Safer Spaces and Supporting Transgender and Non-Binary Individuals

This chapter discusses various ways in which people can unintentionally make others feel unsafe, particularly in the context of gender diversity. It highlights the importance of understanding and respecting pronouns, education and cultural competency, allyship, affirming policies and healthcare coverage, and supporting transgender colleagues in the workplace. It also mentions the formation of a working group within the LGBTQI section of the American Academy of Neurology to advocate for transgender healthcare and provide support and resources.
