Seattle's Hydro Power Isn't Green Enough
The city of seattle gets most of its electricity from four dams that they both own and operate. All of the dams are on rivers that used to have big runs of native salmon. But environmentalists and native american tribes in the pacific northwest have, for decades, waged war against dams. So what would they replace all these dams with if they tore them out? The city of portlandis not real sure. Much like seattle, portland is gray for most of the year, and no good for industrial solar. And as for wind, there's some, but it's not enough or sufficiently reliable to replace the lost hydro power.
