Captivity

There's no reason to conclude that what paul says when he says he expects to be with the lord, to be absent from the body is to be present with the lord. The lord doesn't live in the realm of the dead. He can go there, you can't escape him, but he doesn't live there. And god's house is not shal, it's not in sheel either. So i think these conceptions nen some tweaking in terms of the way the question is asked. But broadly speaking, in the old testament, the language is predominant there. A fuller picture of the after life destiny develops through the second temple jewish period and on into the new testament
