White American community perceived the high five as kind of taking the world by storm in the early 90s and it's because white people were not doing this decades old black practice of slapping five. The story of Glen Burke inventing the high five got squashed by an anti gay cover up oh Wow, oh my god the media and the Dodgers and pretty much everybody like it was known who came up with us, but it was also known Glen Burke was gay.
