The History of the Russian Far East

A lot of what is today's Russia actually used to be part of China. The Russians effectively enforced three treaties on the Qing government between 1858 and 1860. There were incessant border disputes and squabbles but really all based on the new frontier which had been agreed in 1850s. In 2004 a final settlement was announced with which everybody seemed to be happy.
