The Gradient of Generative AI Release Methods and Considerations
I've just been working on system releases for a few moons now, and AI time that sounds like eons. I think often we fixate on a model when we need to be looking at many system components like training data. So I focus mostly on generative AI systems instead of foundation models or transformer based systems. And part of what really stoked a lot of this release discussion conversation at least in my spheres was the release of GPT two in 2019. That shows GPT two as an inflection point for when systems really started to close especially from larger organizations.
