The First Faros in the Ptolemaic Period

There was a causeway built called the Heptostadion, and that was just the length of the stadium. It linked faros island to the mainland to the south. The bay soon became siltred up with beaches on either side of this causeway. Although they put in bridges to try and keep a little bit of flow through so the harbour would sell silt up. But modern Alexandria is mostly built on this on this ismas, which is entirely artificial.
