There are four main theories as to where the black death originated. One suggests in modern day china, one that says around modern day turkey and another that suggests somewhere between the black and caspian seas. But a new study claims central asia is the most likely place for its origins. They used DNA extracted from skeletons of people who died during pestilence-caused deaths. The team were able to detect eusinia pestis, the bacteria that causes plague.
