The Life of Socrates

Socrates was the son of a stone mason and a midwife. He studied philosophy before serving in the Athenian army during the Peloponnesian War. After his father died, Socrates inherited enough money to live without needing to work. He spent the rest of his life engaging in philosophical discussions around Athens. His insistence on asking questions developed into a new way of thinking that involved questioning everything we think.
