Did Studying Philosophy Bring Morality to the Fore in Your Life?

I don't think I was a particularly moral person before I studied philosophy. The real factor that made me bring ethics into my life was when I had a chance lunch with a fellow student in Oxford, a Canadian called Richard Keshen. And that's when I first learned about factory farming - very few people knew anything about it in 1970. Once I'd made the decision that I couldn't go on eating meat, I thought I should also be giving away some of what I've got that's fair to help people.
