Is There an Alternative to Reducing Violence?
i think the part of the conversation that gets kind of lost here is that if there's an alternative to reducing violence tat does not require police officers to be using guns, i think that that's important. The idea here is not that, you know, you just shut down police and we just abandon individuals to the fact that there is no other social services or supports to reduce violence. It is recognizing the constituent parts of what policing does and creating and finding alternative ways to fulfil those rules. There are programms and policies that i'm sure we'll talk about later, um, across the country that have been tried to do this.
