The History of the Lifeboat Association

The original idea of the lifeboat association came from this sort of rather patriotic seafaring tradition. William Hillary's idea was that once you set up these organizations locally on the coast then actually they could be replicated across the globe. The lifeboat association is still alive and well in the UK and it looks after people in distress at sea without fear or favor.
