Ad m, i work on parasitism and one of the hallmark examples of a profound behavior witch within a species to do with infection with tox plasmosis. The initial switch from repressing your kind of innate defensive behaviour could be easily overridden by other stimuli. And then subsequently evolve all these other additional behaviours where you're evolving into a much more social organism. I think that's where the complexity comes in.
