Lorenzo de Medici was the son of Piero the Gaudy, and took over his family's banking business at 15. He would go on to become one of Italy's most influential politicians in the second half of the 15th century. The assassination attempt against Lorenzo by a group of men who wanted to kill him happened during Sunday Mass under Brunelleschi's famous dome.
