Take It Seriously, but Not Literally
The point of the desktop is not to show you the truth, it's to hide the truth. For example, if you have an icon in your desktop for a three-year book and so your work is there on that book - does that mean its blue and rectangular in the middle of your screen? It doesn't. Anybody who thought that misses the whole point. A good scientific theory is one that tells you precisely where those concepts stop. That's what I'm doing with evolutionary theory. We're thinking about physical objects like DNA but they don't exist unless we perceive them as fundamental.
