The Dark Empire

This is a canon since Disney took over. This is now made expanded universe stuff that's not canon. In Dark Empire, this fleet of Star Destroyers arises out of nowhere from hiding and destroys the new Republic. And it turns out that Palpatine was pulling the strings. They were like, we want to bring back a Vader copycat. We want somebody to wear the Vader suit. And he was like, nah, you can have somebody be a copycat. So basically the best guy should get a story by. Shaddo of it right? Yes. Exactly. The whole thing is fascinating.
