Wrapping Fish and Chips in Newspaper?

British people do have takeaways on Fridays. It's a fact. And we'd scoff our fish and chips in the newspaper thing. That's quite a cultural thing isn't it? Wrapping it in newspaper. But yeah in my town where my family live in the west of the UK we still do have proper newspaper like our current day's newspaper, like the Sunday times or the sun or the guardian. Sorry they wrap it in newspaper there. Do you know why they wrapped them in newspaper or they used to wrap them in newspaper? No but I'd love to know why.I need to find out myself.
