The sun may be clean, but solar panels rely on mining. Windmills and all of this requires land, which means deforestation or land taken out of agricultural use to be turned over to energy production use. The green new deal for europe is a really pretty well elaborated plan for how could we do this. But often the greenndeal proposals think only at the national level. They don't confront the fact that significant portions of the world's population actually have no access to energy resources. So in some parts of the world, use of energy actually must increase. And that makes it even more incumbent on us to drastically decrease our use of energy if we want.
