Ruby on Rails Code Base Developer Satisfaction

The main impetus for kicking this off was we have an annual we call it the developer happiness survey that we send out to all the developers at Shopify. One of the main things that really woke us up to like okay we need to do something here was a clear decline year over year in how much enjoyment people were finding in working in the code base. On Ruby on Rails because you don't have that ability to like compile and and know that it's gonna fail if I rename a function you cover that with tests and that's how you know that something broke essentially.
