The author might be pointing out that there's more work that went into that article of clothing than this character seems to be accrediting. And sometimes with in the same novel, eni'm thinking of even a theodore driser sister carrie, there's scenes where she is working in a sweat shop on clothes,. But then, within this same book, she worships fashion and is just dying to buy extravagant clothes and wear them herself or distance herself from that. So it's kind of interesting to see, to see both sides of that commentary within the same novel right? Ok? I also had humor that this could be the author. Sometimes the author could be deflating their
