The Importance of Basic Foundational Knowledge in Elementary School

I think basic foundational knowledge and skills that we're teaching in those grades should continue to be emphasized. I never really hear any students too often at least in my experience say things like why are we learning this or how is this going to help me in life right oftentimes those questions tend to come up when am I ever going to use this right. For the majority of students if they're not intending to pursue some type of scientific field they may not see readily why they're going to be using something like an algebra II in life beyond high school.
