Deontology is kind of like a rule-based ethics. It's bad to kill, good not to kill or something like that. The virtue ethicist answer is something like go ask a virtuous person. But it's not crunchy and mechanical enough to actually come up with definitive answers without just sort of asking somebody's opinion in a way that deontology and utilitarianism can give definite answers for right and wrong.
