The Basic Rules of Mathematics

I imagine sitting across the table from alien mathematicians and introducing them to ours. They might have very different ways of doing these kind of things. But it feels like maybe at the heart of it, there could be something in common. If you drill down to the core of mathematics, the fundamental ideas on which everything else is built, maybe we could compare those with alien mathematicians.
