In traditional astrology the second house is associated with the material world, and encompasses topics such as money, possessions, livelihood, and financial stability. It represents the descent into the material realm, because the second house is the sign that follows the rising sign, and in the whole sign house system it is the first sign after the Ascendant that is fully submerged under the earth.
