The Reconstruction Era Statutes That Deprive Black People of Civil Rights

A third statute is deprivation of rights in violation of Title 18 United States Code Section 241, which makes it a crime to deprive someone of their civil rights. Now this law was one of many that was passed during the Reconstruction era. The theory of the case is that by trying to quote, find some votes in places like Georgia and elsewhere or trying to subvert the vote in the states that the people who are trying to do that did that that was depriving those voters of something that they have the right both under the Constitution and under federal law to do, says CNN's Jim Acosta.
