Modern stoics refer to that as the daconomia control, which i don't particularly like as a term but probably tere's no point in opposing the general trend so will just call it daconomeor control. The same idea pops up in different contexts and different cultures. You find it in eighth century buddhism, in eleventh century judaism under the serendi prayer. And its often used by 12 step organizations like alcoholic anonymus.
