The battle of the Atlantic flipped and favored the Allies because of a dozen British destroyers and a dozen US manufactured B-24 Liberators. The Germans never were able to come up with a radar detector that could sense when that beam was on them. And so once they had enough ships and planes to literally cover the defense, that radar capability was the final nail on the U-boats coffin.
