Do You Know What You're Saying on a Billboard?
I think there's definitely words that have gone out of fashion, and I think the words that go out of fashion are those that are open to perception. You never see really that used, trendy, hip, classy, amazing. These words don't often get used anymore because they're not one specific enough or two. And do you avoid what linguists call intensifiers, or those terrifically, amazingly, frightfully? Do they sound a bit corny a bit fifties? They need to be definitive because we have a council culture out there, and if you can't prove what you're saying, then the consumer will pick you up on it.
