The Power of Opening to One's Own Pain
There's considered to be a tremendous power even in opening to one's own pain for that very sake of feeling and empathy. If people can't feel their own pain, how can they say, well I don't want to cause pain to somebody else? It's like the other is it the other in the objectified sense and they themselves are like the other to themselves. So there's real value in even acknowledging our own pain because that is the building of compassion and empathy.
