"It seems like, you know, when I talk to people and they have a decision around compensation, it's sort of the end slash beginning of the year," she says. "I think at a client once who is struggling with deciding whether to give just cash gifts to employees who did a really great job." She asks them what their long-term goals are in business; that might then inform how they make decisions about bonuses or other rewards. 'And working backwards like that often makes it a lot more simple,' Lomax adds.
