Engineers get a bad rap for being anti-social robots who just want to bang on a keyboard and spit out code in a corner alone. Engineers will come to the UX team before building or changing something. There won't be a lot of surprises on the UX side because what's in production would generally match what you've designed. So it's really important for us to understand all these things.
