Soil Maps for Ponds - Is That Really the Case?
Soil maps tend to be incredibly accurate for this stuff. And those good soils, usually like the heavy clay soils for pond, they're usually in the valley area. In Vermont, there's old, you know, ancient seas, and they determined really where the clays went. So it really just depends from site to site. The whole big bottom of the Champlain Valley, for instance, is clay because that was all a seabed bottom.
