Introduction
ulrich zwingli was born less than two months after martin luther on january first, 14 84 in wildhaus, switzerland. Like luther, he received a fine renaissance education. He was ordained a priest in 15 o six and at first was a dutiful follower of the church's teaching. But as a fiercely independent swiss patriot, Zwingley began to question the authority of the pope over the swiss cantons.
