What's the Difference Between Realism and Science Fiction?

Fantastical modes have re established themselves as a tremendously important part of how we tell stories. To consider it juvenile is to associate it with children, which writing for children is inherently juvene. Machismo is this defensive posturing of some one working too hard and protesting a little too much about their own om sense of masculinity in the world. And science fiction has worked so hard to prove that they are grown ups who write about grown up things.
