Historically speaking it's not very likely that these sort of mystical and esoteric ideas, some of which maybe i'll talk about a little later, ar were there from the beginning. They area kind of picked up and thrown together in various creative ways, you know, in this process that scholars now like to call bricolage. And this happens probably both because a lot of stone masons were being exposed to these ideas and were interested in them. Little by little, more and more men started to join these lodges and take part in freemasonry.
