Judaism as an Eternal Conversation

i find that very romantic and compelling, even though it's kind of empirically dubious. Is there a way to enter judaism as an eternal conversation? I'm pretty confident that a contemporary debate in yshiva could be transposed back into the middle ages. i don't think anybody who wants to engage in this kind of eternal conversation about why we're doing what we're doing should do it at least for now. But not everybody wants to do that; they don't want to harm others with their reasoning.
