The Russians Are in a Death Valley

It has been almost thirteen days since we claimed Moscow. Yesterday was my twenty second birthday. The Russians have utterly stripped the land behind us from Simolensk to the Neman River. There will be nothing for us or the pack animals to eat for weeks returning to Prussia or even pushing into the Ukraine. In the mud of late summer the supply trains became stuck in the snow and ice they will become buried. As for shelter I can think of few structures I saw in the march after Bordeano that had not already been raised to thwart us.
